Community Archaeology Dig 2017
Community Archaeology Dig 2017 – Sign up as a volunteer from 8 June 2017 at 12pm!
As part of the HLF sponsored Kenley Revival Project with the support of Historic England we are organising an Archaeology Community Dig between the 17 and 23 July 2017. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who will help us to investigate a specific part of the airfield on Kenley Common. You will get the chance to excavate trenches, plan and record the remaining footings and help us uncover hidden features. Furthermore you will get the opportunity to take part in workshops to learn more about artefact handling and map regression. During the whole event we will have professional archaeologists onsite who will share their knowledge with you. Volunteers must be 18 and over.
Tickets go live on 8 June at 12pm. Please note you can only book one place for yourself and for one of the group slots. If you have registered an interest in Archaeology you will still need to book a ticket.
Please note only registered volunteers will be permitted to take part in the Community Dig 17 – 21 July. If you would like to view the dig and meet the team please join us for the Festival of Archaeology Weekend on 22 – 23 July.
You can sign up for one of the following groups:
Group 1 will work on Monday 17 July, Tuesday 18 July, Wednesday 19 July and Sunday 23 July 2017. Click here to sign up
